What is Plastic Surgery?
Plastic surgery refers to cosmetic surgical procedures that change the body’s appearance, erase the signs of aging or correct aesthetic issues that concern the patient. These procedures not only alter the body, but
can change one’s self-image.
Plastic surgery encompasses a number of procedures designed to improve your physique. The plastic surgery procedures performed at Connecticut Surgical Arts include:

How Much Does Plastic Surgery in Norwich Cost?
The cost of a plastic surgery procedure depends on many factors. The cost of your procedure will be disclosed during our initial consultation with Dr. Martin. Benefits of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery procedures offer the ability to alter the physical body and one’s self-image. Plastic surgeons set out to create natural-looking alterations to the body that allow the patient to enjoy their appearance more fully.
- Plastic surgery reshapes the physique, producing a younger, more desirable appearance
- Stubborn fat pockets resistant to exercise and healthy diet can be removed, allowing the body to more accurately reflect your hard work and dedication
Who Is The Ideal Candidate for Plastic Surgery?
Strong candidates for plastic surgery should enter the process with realistic expectations and goals. Each procedure addresses a different goal and will have different requirements for the ideal patient. When you meet with Dr. Martin for your initial consultation, he will discuss these needs with you to determine if a particular procedure is appropriate for your treatment.
What Do I Need To Do Before Plastic Surgery?
Each procedure will have its own set of requirements pre-operatively, but in general, all patients should stick to these guidelines:
- Quit smoking and/or using tobacco products at least two weeks prior to your plastic surgery, as tobacco and nicotine use can hinder healing.
- Maintain good health. If you are ill, it may be necessary to postpone your plastic surgery procedure.
- Stay active. Low-impact activities on a daily basis will keep your body healthy. Avoid strenuous or risky activities which could cause you to become injured before your procedure.
- Stick to a healthy diet. Don’t begin a new diet prior to your surgery in attempts to lose weight. If you wish to start taking a new supplement prior to surgery, please discuss it with Dr. Martin first.
How Long Does It Take to Perform Plastic Surgery?
Each plastic surgery procedure is different. Simple procedures may take about an hour, while more complex or combined procedures may last several hours.
What To Expect After Plastic Surgery
Before your procedure as well as afterwards, you’ll be fully informed of the expected recovery period for your plastic surgery and the actions you need to take or avoid to facilitate healing. You may need to wear a compression garment or take medications during your recovery period.
Will I Have Scars After Plastic Surgery?
Plastic surgery does require incisions – some are larger or more conspicuously placed than others. Because the goal of plastic surgery is to improve the patient’s physique, Dr. Martin takes great care to expertly place incisions so that scarring will be minimized and/or hidden.
When Will I See The Results?
Every procedure is different. With some, there may be a longer period of healing before results can be seen. With others, results may be apparent right away or develop throughout recovery.
How Long Will The Results of Plastic Surgery Last?
Plastic surgery produces permanent results. With proper care, patients who maintain good health can expect to see the results of their plastic surgery procedure for many years. Aging, weight gain, and other factors can change one’s appearance over time – a second procedure may be needed to maintain results.
