What is a Facelift?
A facelift is typically recommended for facial sagging, displaced fat, weak muscles, excess fat and visible signs of aging.
A facelift may be performed in combination with other procedures to achieve your desired results. Complementing procedures include blepharoplasty and anti-aging skin treatments.

What Do I Need To Do Before a Facelift?
You will be examined to confirm that you are a good candidate for any treatment. Tell Dr. Martin if you have had any other skin treatments or injections within the past four months and if you’re taking any medications like aspirin or other blood thinners, allergy medication, NSAIDS or muscle relaxers. The doctor may also recommend certain safeguards before treatment such as no drinking for 48 hours before your appointment. You may also be advised to temporarily stop certain medications after your treatment.
How Long Does It Take to Perform a Facelift?
A facelift may take between two and four hours, depending on your case. Incisions are made starting at the hairline, extending down in front of the ear, and continuing around it to the hairline behind the ear. Excess skin is trimmed, facial muscles repositioned, and fat deposits removed. The incisions are sutured once the facelift is performed.
What to Expect After a Facelift
Swelling will be prominent mild to moderate, but it will reduce slowly over several weeks. Someone must drive you home on the day of the procedure, and you may find it more comfortable to have someone stay with you for a day or two as you begin the recovery period. Bruising is likely, but will fade as you heal. It may be a week or two before you feel confident returning to work following your facelift.
Will I Have Scars After a Facelift?
Incisions are placed just in front of the ear and inside the hairline. Fine sutures close up these incisions, creating nearly invisible scars.
When Will I See The Results?
It may take up to six months for swelling to fully subside though dramatic improvements can be noticed as early as 3 weeks.
How Long Will The Results of a Facelift Last?
Recovery from a facelift may take longer than most other facial procedures, but the results almost always justify the wait. You will experience a significant and long-lasting result, giving you back a youthful glow.
