The upper arms can be a stubborn area for toning, and sometimes it seems impossible to sculpt them regardless of how much strength training we do. Brachioplasty assists you in creating toned, sculpted arms that show off the rest of your body. Dr. Richard J. Martin performs brachioplasty procedures for patients in Norwich, Colchester, Mystic, Waterford, Glastonbury, and nearby Connecticut communities.
What is Brachioplasty?
“Bat wings” are an eyesore plaguing many men and women. Either the area stubborn resists toning via exercise, or the skin is simply stretched out as a result of a dramatic weight loss. Brachioplasty tightens and reshapes tissue under the arms. Fat and excess skin are removed, giving the arms a smoother, more toned look after recovery.

How Much Does Brachioplasty in Norwich Cost?
Each treatment is unique, which means all costs are unique to each patient as well. The doctor will discuss cost with you during your consultation. We accept cash, check and credit card payments. Financing options are also available.
Benefits of an Arm Lift
This procedure allows patients to continue the process of body sculpting that began with weight loss and ends with the complete toning of the arms after the fat is gone and extra skin is removed. Heavy skin is eliminated, making the patient feel lighter and less strained.
Who Is The Ideal Candidate for Brachioplasty?
The ideal candidate is of reasonably normal weight but is experiencing loose skin under their arms. Patients who have experienced significant weight loss, but who are unable to tone the “batwings” they are experiencing are the perfect candidates for this procedure.
What Do I Need to Do Before an Arm Lift?
Stop smoking at least four weeks before this procedure. You may be required to stop certain medications or supplements leading up to your surgery.
How Long Does It Take to Perform Brachioplasty?
A brachioplasty requires approximately two hours to complete.
What to Expect After an Arm Lift
Elastic bandages will be applied after surgery to help with healing and to reduce swelling and protect the incision. Dressings are typically removed about three days after your procedure. After dressings are removed, you are able to shower. The compression garment typically remains for a month following surgery. Avoid strenuous activity for a week following surgery.
Will I Have Scars After Brachioplasty?
There is only a very thin scar inside of the upper arm. Dr. Martin is skilled in using incision and suturing techniques which allow for minimally noticeable scarring.
When Will I See The Results?
You should see results within a week after your arm lift. The swelling will continue to subside over the next three to six months.
How Long Will The Results of Brachioplasty Last?
The effects of a brachioplasty are long-lasting, but eventually, age takes its toll on everyone, likely resulting in sagging skin in the same area. A fluctuation in weight can also affect your result.
